I had no idea how much emotional and physical energy (and time!) trying to renovate this house would take. And we're not even doing the work ourselves! Just the sheer coordination and the number of decisions that have to be made, and dealing with the inevitable slip-ups (including ones induced into the banking system by the Patriot Act) have been draining.
But we move in Monday. At least that's what the Knowledge Spouse tells me; I am at Bryn Mawr this week teaching at an Institute for Humane Studies summer seminar. We've been talking about great subjects and having some fun -- I've done a couple of experiments and will do a third tomorrow.
