While at Wired I noticed their features of some of the technologies from the CleanTech Forum, including this mention of Nanoexa's nanotechnology battery technology. Nanoexa is using nanotechnology and computational modeling to develop a new lithium energy storage technology. From what I can understand, the computational modeling will enable them to figure out how various materials act at the quantum level, and they hope to turn that understanding into better ways to store energy.
